The Power of Approach
We have power in our communication. There may be awkward or uncomfortable conversations that need to be
had or ones that need thinking outside the box on resolutions that just take some brainstorming. The Power of Approach exercise helps walk through different scenarios focusing on our approach to them.
Check In Meeting Exercises – Conflict Focus
We don’t always have time for a formal training or exercise to do with a team. Shorter 5-10 minute exercises can
be perfect options to include in monthly or periodic check in meetings with a leader and their team member.
Choose one of the three activities below that best fit your needs.
Workplace Politics – Say It or Take Note
Workplace politics can play key roles in how we handle situations. Going through different scenarios and
discussing the dynamics as a team can help talk through options we may not have thought of as resolutions.
Or what could be the best moves for your career safety.
Empathy and Accountability
We may come across situations at work with colleagues where empathy and accountability need to play a
balanced role. There are three scenarios in this exercise that show different responses to a situation with focusing on
accountability and empathy. You most likely fall naturally into one of the three scenarios. This exercise can help
talk through responses and where you can grow.
Ongoing Application and Reinforcement
After a training, exercise, or assessment is completed, ongoing application and reinforcement become the focus. Learning is sustained through follow-up trainings, exercises, and/or micro-learning opportunities, as well as by integrating the topic into goals, performance conversations, recognition efforts, and peer learning groups.
As individuals build knowledge, experience, and confidence, they are empowered to lead, share insights, and support others in applying the learning as well. This approach reflects the meaning of Praeliscere with Learn, Apply, Lead.
